The state of care for individuals with disabilities in America must be addressed. Even the most educated among us have something to learn from the challenges faced by individuals in our communities who have mobility or communication differences. Through a series of sometimes serious, sometimes silly essays, author Jes Brown narrates her experiences working for Spencer, a man with Cerebral Palsy and a lot of heart, illustrating a handful of the challenges they faced together, and which he still struggles with daily. Without shifting our perceptions of shared community spaces, society will continue to exclude many valuable members.
